Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his admiration for Marco Verratti on many occasions since leaving Paris Saint Germain a few years back, and that has not changed this season with the Bayern Munich manager still considering the central midfielder one of the best.
That being said, it has even got to the point where the manager has been linked with a reunion with his former player, as he has been keeping a keen eye on the Italian international who has consistently been linked with a move away from Paris in the summer.
The player is known for his creative play, being able to dictate the tempo in matches. He controls the midfield for one of Europe’s top sides on a regular basis and also has the defensive qualities to be a perfect all round midfielder – something that Ancelotti’s side would highly benefit from.
However, it seems that the player has also received interest from another European side in that of Inter. The Milan side have stated that a move has been discussed between the club and the 24 year old’s agent, and that a transfer may be on the cards as a result. However, the player has stated that he wants to be playing Champions League football should be move away from the French Club.
This may play to Bayern Munich’s advantage as the side are almost guaranteed to qualify for the competition on an annual basis. However, the same can not be said for Inter. The Italian side currently sit 7th in the Serie A; some way off the Champions League spots. And with the likes of Juventus, Napoli, Roma, Lazio and their rivals AC Milan all ahead of them, it is safe to say that Inter will have a tough task succeeding this season.
Verratti therefore may still be likely to move to Bayern in the summer, but if Inter can turn their season around and pick up some big wins, this could all change. Only time will tell at this point, but it’s certainly something to keep an eye on.
One of the major talking points at Bayern Munich and Chelsea at the moment is the current situation regarding Chilean Midfielder Arturo Vidal. The player has been heavily linked with a move for Chelsea, as reportedly the Premier League club are planning to cash in on Oscar for £60 million with an offer from a Chinese club, and will then be using some of this money to try and acquire Vidal, with reports of a £34 million bid being lined up.
Vidal furthered this speculation earlier this week as the player liked an Instagram picture of Stanford Bridge, sending the world of footballing media into yet another frenzy, as apparently this came after the player had had talks with Antonio Conte himself.
However, with the last piece of the puzzle being Conte’s comments on the matter, the manager has yet refused to give any information away himself, as the manager believes it is poor practice to do such a thing:
‘I don’t like to speak about players that are playing with other teams.
‘I think this this is out of respect for players and other clubs.’ Via metro.co.uk
The manager has said he has been in talks with the Chelsea board over possible January transfers, but is yet to name any names as it seems there is still progress to be made over any potential transfers, including that of Bayern’s Arturo Vidal.
It would not be the first time that Pepe Guardiola would have tried to reunite himself with one of his former players. With the Spanish manager having moved to Bayern Munich from his former club Barcelona, the manager acquired Thiago Alcantara for the German side when he made the move.
And it seems that Guardiola may have the same thoughts in mind. However, this time, it’s not Thiago that he’s after, but that of Holger Badstuber. The 27 year old is still considered of the highest talent, but has struggled to break back into the first team at Bayern since he recovered from his latest long term injury, as the German side have the likes of Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng in their ranks competing for the same spots.
As a result, the player may be open to move to Manchester City to gain some first team football, despite him having played his whole career at Bayern, notching up 200 appearances for the club.
With the player having just 6 months left on his contract, he could be available relatively cheaply, and with Manchester City struggling defensively at the moment, it could be a great move for the club to acquire the player. Obviously we would be sad to see him go, but we can understand that the move would be attractive to him.
Only time will tell, but you can read more on the rumour in the mean time by following the link below:
There has been a lot of speculation about the future of two key midfielders at Bayern of late. Firstly, and more obviously, Xabi Alonso may not be spending another season with the German giants, as the player’s contract is set to run out at the end of the season, and the midfielder is yet to receive a new offer from the club to extend his stay there. At the age of 35 the player is still performing well, but this is not expected to last for many more years and Bayern may be starting to think about bringing in some fresh faces to replace the player.
And secondly, more recently, there have been significant rumours over the future of Arturo Vidal at the club, as the Chilean midfielder may be making an exit from the club as Premier League side Chelsea are apparently looking to sign the player for a fee of approximately £34 million.
As a result, Bayern will need to consider all their options, as if both players leave, then they will need to find strong replacements pretty sharpish. That’s where Faouzi Ghoulam comes in.
The Napoli player has been attracting the interest of several of Europe’s top clubs, and although the player usually plays in the left back position, he has shown time and time again that his versatility is to be admired as he often takes up a position in the middle of the park successfully, much like David Alaba. With rumours of the Austrian also leaving the club to join Guardiola’s Manchester City in the summer, Ghoulam may be the perfect option for the German side.
The 25 year old is currently contracted until 2018, and therefore the summer may be perfect time for Bayern to swoop in to try and acquire player. Whether they will or not, only time will tell, as there will certainly be many other options available come the summer.
It became apparent in the summer that Bayern Munich had a lot to do with Werder Bremen signing the young German winger Serge Gnabry, as the player moved from Arsenal in the summer. This was apparently with eye to be able to sign the player in the future, as Bayern would be able to pry the youngster away from the club much easier than they would from Arsenal, and prevented Bremen from getting into a bidding war with Bayern.
That being said, with Gnarby having shone at Werder Bremen, showing he is more than capable of thriving in the Bundesliga, so much so that he was granted with a senior German international start, Bayern Munich may be moving in to try and sign the player much sooner than expected.
The former Arsenal player signed a deal with Bremen until 2020, however, with the likes of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery getting on, Bayern may be looking to acquire his services sooner rather than later. With a release clause of just 8 million Euros as a price tag, its hardly a bank breaking signing for the club, and would possibly even be a good move to make in January, as their is already speculation about the players future at the club, mere months after he signed for the Bundesliga side.
It seems that Bayern Munich are in the market for a new central defender at the moment: The side have recently been keeping tabs on Hoffenheim’s 21 year old centre back Niklas Sule, however, it seems that the player’s price valuation may prove a big stumbling block when it comes to actually signing the youngster.
As a result, Bayern have been looking elsewhere it seems, as they are now eyeing another younger defender in that of Sebastian De Vrij. The 24 year old 6 foot 2 man is a regular in a strong Lazio side, and as a result has been attracting the attention of a few top clubs including Bayern Munich. However, Bayern may struggle to acquire the player for the same reason as they are struggling with Niklas Sule – that of Premier League club Chelsea. Time and time again it seems that Premier League sides are willing to spend large sums of money that many other sides wouldn’t even dream of, and as a result, the blues may end up once again driving up the price of a player that Bayern Munich are interested in.
The Bavarians may be in luck despite this: With the player out of a contract in 2018, it seems that Lazio may want to cash in on the player with just one more season left in his contract, and the defender may therefore be available relatively cheap. This will all depend on whether or not Chelsea and Bayern end up in a bidding war, but it is certain that the interest from the blue is likely to drive up the price once again, if Bayern are hoping to acquire the player.
With the January transfer window just a few days away, it seems that most of the footballing attention in German has shifted to the paper talk, as many clubs will be anticipating their own sides strengthening their ranks, or notching up a few sales, as sides will be looking to strengthen their sides half way through the season. However, the January transfer window is not exclusive to Germany, and sides all over Europe have got their thinking caps on with the same thoughts in mind.
That being said, it is rumoured that one Bayern player could be on the way out, as Thiago Alcantara may be looking for a move back to his former club, Barcelona. The Spanish international started out at Barcelona, where he really struggled to break into the first team, resulting with him moving with Pepe to Bayern Munich back in 2013. However, with the player both in fine form, and with his brother Rafinha still at Barcelona, it is rumoured that the player may be on his way back to the Camp Nou.
The Spanish international’s younger brother Rafinha still plays at Barcelona and Don Balon says the Catalans will investigate whether there is any chance that Thiago wants to be reunited with him next summer. It claims the La Liga champions would be willing to offer around €40 million for Thiago but says that the real asking price could be at least €50m. Via espn.co.uk
For Barcelona this is a transfer that would be ideal – Andreas Iniesta is a very similar player, and it not getting any younger, now aged 33. And for Thiago it would also seem appealing – the player has dreamed to thrive with his brother in the Spanish giants first team, and since Rafinha has made a break through into the side, this could well be the chance Thiago had been waiting for.
However, it is highly unlikely that Bayern would want to sell the player – why would they? Arguably the creative player has been one of Bayern’s stand out players so far this season, having been in incredible form. Most lately, the player scored one goal and set up another against a strong Leipzig side, and with a return like that Ancelotti will be hoping to keep the player around no doubt:
“He’s a very important player who can play in any number of different midfield positions.
“Very few players possess his quality and flexibility.” Via espn.co.uk
As a result, it is rumoured that Barcelona will have to pay a high fee to reaccquire the player, and with the players contract set to expire as late as 2019, it is hard to see how Barcelona will be able to capture someone who can be considered a key player for the Munich side.

Bayern Munich are seemingly looking to secure an attacking midfielder in the summer, as Ancelotti has been implementing the old 4-2-3-1 system at Bayern once more with great success over the previous weeks after his 4-3-3 system was criticised heavily for being predictable and rather lack luster.
As a result, the side have expressed interest in the likes of James Rodriguez and others, but it seems now that there may be another option available to them, as Bayern could potentially secure the services of a certain Liverpool man who has been taking the Premier League by storm, Brazilian Philippe Coutinho.
The player has really shone during his time at Liverpool as is playing at the top of his game. However, it seems that the player may be looking to move on as he has failed to win anything with a Liverpool side that haven’t really challenged for any trophies during his time there. And with many of Europe’s top sides interested in the player, it seems that trophies could come in abundance elsewhere.
The player only moved to Liverpool for £8.5 million back in 2012, and the club can expect to make a huge profit on this, even though they will not want to let their star man leave the club. However, it seems that the interest from the likes of PSG and our very own Bayern may prove too difficult for Liverpool to stave off, with reports that Countinho is reciprocating this interest.
Furthermore, if Bayern were to capture the player, the move may also have a secondary benefit, as it may give current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, a man that Bayern are reportedly eyeing up as Ancelotti’s successor, to be reunited with Coutinho if he does indeed make the move to Bayern in the near future, as the attacking midfielder has undoubtedly been Klopp’s star man at Anfield.
Bayern Munich have already stated that they will not be doing a whole lot of business this January, and it is often the case that many sides will not allow first team players to leave half way through a campaign. However, this does not mean that the club are not looking to the summer, and it seems that this is also the outlook from many other clubs, including that of Premier League Chelsea, who are reportedly looking with heavy interest into one of Bayern’s key men.
Chelsea will seemingly have a lot of funds at their disposal, in the summer, as it seems that midfielder Oscar is set to make a move to China for a whopping £60 million. The Chinese league have been snapping up some of Europe’s best players for crazy fees of late, and it seems that Chelsea may be the latest club to benefit from this.
As a result, it seems that the blues will be hoping to use the majority of this money to bring in a certain Arturo Vidal, as a like for like swap. The powerhouse midfielder would work perfectly under Chelsea’s new system, as Antonio Conte has revolutionised the football at the club.
The offer apparently stands at €50 million euros, approximately £42 million pounds, and Bayern will now have to have a think about what they want to do in regard to Vidal. The player is certainly of high quality and is a regular first team player for the club, but the money could be used by Carlo Ancelotti to sign certain players that he is more interested in having at the club – the likes of Marco Verratti perhaps?
Furthermore, Bayern have recently brought in the likes of Renato Sanches – a player very similar to that of Vidal, as well as having Joshua Kimmich, Thiago Alcantara, Xabi Alonso, Philipp Lahm to name a few who can fill in the hole left by the players absence.
Sometimes money talks, and £42 million is certainly an attractive sum, even for the likes of Vidal.
The January transfer window and winter break is just around the corner in the Bundesliga, and this is often a period where Bayern Munich, like many other clubs, get some transfer business done through the buying and selling of players. And it seems that the first of this business has come before the transfer window has even opened this time around, as Julian Green has signed a deal with Second tier Stuttgart, meaning the player will leave the club in less than a couple of weeks time.
It is not the greatest shock that the US International has left the club – the player had really struggled to get any first team football during his time at Bayern, sitting in the shadow of the prolific Robert Lewandowski. With the player still showing promise at such a young age, it seems like a good move for him to look for first team football, and as a result he has signed a deal with Stuttgart to try and get his career back on track until 2019.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was understanding of Green’s desire to move on from the club, as he spoke in a statement in regard to the transfer:
“Julian wants to have a new experience at a club where he’ll be a first-team regular.”
“It was tricky at FC Bayern due to a lot of competition. I wish Julian all the best for the future. He always was a hard-working, reliable and very likeable player for FC Bayern.” Via si.com
And equally it seems that there was no bad blood on the end of Green either, as the player is only looking back with fond memories of his time at Bayern, saying he gained a lot from his time at the club and will now go forward with an eye for the future as he feels it is the right time do so:
“I joined Bayern’s U-15s and like everyone dreamed of being a pro, and I’ve made it.”
“I’ve gained a lot of experience over the last three years. It was good, I’m glad about it and thankful.”
“I took my time and tried everything. It’s over for me now I’ve decided for Stuttgart.”
“I’ll set myself new goals with Stuttgart, and I’m looking forward to this challenge, especially to supporting VfB in the second half of the season to achieve promotion.” Via si.com
We can only wish the forward the best in his career going forward, as he was a good serviceman for Bayern during his younger years, and we can understand why he would have wanted to make the move away from our club.
